Alan Sherwood is President of Sherwood Consulting Service, Inc., which serves healthcare, educational, social service, and faith based organizations throughout the Midwest and Rocky Mountain West. Sherwood began his full-service consulting firm over fifteen years ago. He primarily focuses on capital and endowment Campaigns, major and planned giving programs, executive search and career coaching.

Sherwood earned his MBA degree and CFRE while in Wisconsin. He has successfully conducted multiple Campaigns from $500,000 to $20 million. All of his Campaigns have exceeded the agreed upon Campaign goal. He also employs the talents of four Associate consultants with a combined 90 years of Study and Campaign Management.

Sherwood is author of the recently released book, "Successfully Unemployed: Finding or Creating Your Dream Job." He has hosted a weekly internet Radio Show and conducts workshops on the same subject. He is the award winning author of the article "Win-Win of Charitable Gift Annuities" for the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy Journal. He also wrote "Planned Giving At Medical Schools: Implications for All Healthcare Providers" for the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy Journal. He has spoken at many regional and national conferences for Association of Fundraising Professionals and Association of Healthcare Philanthropy.

Before becoming a consultant, Sherwood was President of the Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation, where he served for seven years. While at Good Samaritan he and his staff increased average annual fundraising from $900,000 a year to $2.5 million, significantly increased their irrevocable deferred gifts to over $5 million for endowment purposes and successfully completed a first ever $2.4 million capital Campaign. During this time, he was appointed to the six member National Development Task Force for Catholic Health Initiatives, a 70+ hospital system, and served as State of Nebraska Director for The Association of Healthcare Philanthropy.

Prior to this, Sherwood was Vice President for Development and Community Relations at Montana's largest hospital in Great Falls; served as Director of Corporate and Foundation Support at the Medical College of Wisconsin, and as Director of Development for a private K-12 school in Napa, California. He began his development career over 30 years ago as Finance Director for his father's gubernatorial Campaign in Minnesota.
